If you live in an apartment in Charleston, SC and you want to start celebrating the 4th of July on the 3rd you can. Head over to the much missed, and very beautiful Folly Beach on Wednesday to start off your long holiday weekend.
That’s right! Folly Beach County Park will officially reopen its gates for visitors on Wednesday, July 3. The park will open for normal operations at 9 a.m., and a public grand opening ceremony will take place that morning at 10 a.m.
Folly Beach County Park (FBCP) has been closed for public access since August 2011, when the park, suffered heavy erosion from Hurricane Irene.
The storm rendered certain facilities inaccessible, forcing closure of the property and eliminating public access and parking for over 400 cars on the west end of Folly Island. The park had served as a public beach access area for thousands of area residents since its opening in 1982.
What a way to begin the celebration of resiliency and independence! On July 4th enjoy the annual Patriots Point’s fireworks celebration after dark.
Happy Fourth of July and drive safely!
