Saturday July 10 is National Clerihew Day. Yeah, we know it’s kind of one of those random month of July holiday’s but wait until you hear what a clerihew is. Coined after Edward Clerihew Bentley an English novelist, a clerihew is patterned after four basic guidelines.
- Poem should be 4 lines in length
- The 1st and 2nd lines should rhyme with each other, while the 3rd and 4th rhyme subsequently.
- The first line should be about a biographical person while the second ends with something that rhymes with name of that person.
- It has to be funny!!!
This is our Clerihew:
This one is for Abbery at West Ashley
We’ve got a remidy for being ashy
It’s not magic so you don’t need a potion
Just Google Jergens and order some lotion
