Remember the laser gun game Laser Tag? You would strap on a sensor vest, which if shot, would represent that you’d been hit by an opponent. If you could get a group of friends together to have an all out war, it was always fun. Nowadays, you can find actual places where you can play this game, usually with massive teams of 8 or more.

Now imagine lasers replaced by hurtling balls of paint, and you have an idea of what paint ball is. While definitely not the same thing, when it comes down to it, the sole goal of the game is the same: shoot an opponent to win.

Paint ball is usually taken a bit more hard core than laser tag, and can turn into something out of a Rambo flick, depending on who you’re playing with. Whether you’re a novice, or hard core fan, paintball is a fun activity, and if you’re hanging with a great group of friends, there’s no shortage to great times to be had.

Cash Flow Up, Energy Down- Abberly at West Ashley on Energy Saving Tips

There are many things that can be done right inside your apartment that will cause you to save money and cut back on your energy bill.

Cutting back on energy will help to both preserve our environment and keep more cash in your pocket.

Did you know that your refrigerator pulls nearly 20% of your apartments energy?  Have you noticed what the temperature was on?  It may be time to turn it down.  Aim between 36-44 degrees in the fridge and o-5 in the freezer and you’ll come out on top.  You may even have an energy saver switch make sure it’s turned to the on position.

If you are anything like me then you use your computer a whole bunch throughout the day but when you are not in front of your computer be sure to put it in sleep mode.  All electronics pull energy  when they are plugged-in so when it is possible reduce the pull of energy on the electronics.

One of the biggest mistakes that you can make when you work from home is to stay in your pajama’s without shaving.

You can’t expect to slap the alarm clock at 8:00 a.m., roll over, grab your laptop and make $1,000 in a day.  The game doesn’t work that way.

Working from home is like a sport. You need rules and you need goals.  No harm, no foul does not apply.  You will notice most of the habits that you create for yourself as your own boss will directly impact your employees.

Wake up in the morning and act as if you have a commute to work. When you take a shower and get dressed you put yourself in the mind set to keep moving.  You could go to the living room or if you have a home office that’s even better.  You have to separate home from work especially when you work from home.   Home provides many luxuries but it also provides many distractions.  Feel free to get out of the house and go down to the local Starbucks on Windermere blvd.  It could do you some good just to get some air.

Keeping a goal-list is vital for success at home. I like to think of myself as being pretty focused but sometimes I can be very distracted or just unmotivated.  If you’re like me then you know that keeping a goal-list is life saving.  My list almost acts as a third hand.  The more attention I give my list the more I get done.

While driving in my car the other day, I heard a radio commercial for a really popular home builder in this area.  As someone who has rented an apartment, owned a home, and had a father who constantly taught fiscal responsibility, I tend to see the flip side of any type of new and exciting financial obligation (such as buying a home or car).  This particular commercial touted that you could own a home for just as much as you pay in rent.  This is almost always a misleading statement and I really can’t believe that builders and sometimes Realtors can tell people this with a straight face.

• First of all, the monthly mortgage that they typically advertise does not include property taxes and insurance.
• Secondly, it does not include HOA fees which can be anywhere between $50 per month to $300 per month, depending on the neighborhood.
• Thirdly, and most importantly, the advertised monthly price does not include the yearly maintenance (usually 1% of the home value per year) and decorating costs.

Obviously, you don’t have any of those costs when you are renting an apartment home at our community.   I know that many of you have owned a home and understand the financial responsibility of home ownership.  For those who haven’t, keep this information in mind when listening to one of those commercials!
