I heard a story about a young ladies granddad and an accident that he
had on the golf course. His buddy backed up into him and broke his
leg. Don’t cry just yet that’s not the sad part. What happened after
that might just jerk tears out of your face or horrify you especially if
you’ve done it before. I want to talk to you about boxed DVD’s…
(dreaded villain laugh goes here). I must warn you that I am going to
be bias about why you shouldn’t buy boxed DVD’s but I will still paint a
clear picture for you to understand my point.
The Boxed DVD’s- What happened next in the story
about the young lady’s grand dad was horrible. He was back at his home
where he was gifted with several television series on DVD. Season 1,
season 2 and season 3… From shows like Desperate Housewives, The
Sopranos, Nip/Tuck and the list goes on. Now from a normal perspective
this would seem harmless. But television series should only be taken in
small 30 minute to 60 minute intervals. The effects of such
entertainment consumed in large amounts could be highly addictive.
Grand dad’s motivation to be healed lessons with each episode. Long
after a the patient is healed there could also be an over whelming urge
to watch more of television and the drive to do actual physical
activities grows dimer and dimer.
This is the first reason why boxed DVD’s are bad. They slowly murder
the motivation to be ambitious and get out side. I know this from
experience as well. My mom introduced me to the TV show called Burn Notice.
And I once sat in our apartment for an entire Saturday watching
episode after episode. No basket ball, no sunlight, no outside for the
whole day. In fact I didn’t see outside until it was dark. It was
almost as if I was a character in the show. I finally looked up after
hours and my day had been invested into Michael Westen. Great show (my
favorite) but that wasn’t the best way to spend my time.
