How many of us growing up had mentors or parents that taught us about setting goals or visualizing our outcome before it happened? Not to say anything bad about our parents. I have great parents, in fact they still get on me to this day and I am well out of high school even college. But that’s a good thing.
My point here is this… Regardless of the things we were or were not taught it’s up to us to set our minds to learn how to set goals and then make it a habit. Understanding the vital importance attached to setting and accomplishing goals can save lives. Good habits lead us toward good situations and bad habits, well you get the picture.
Who’s Responsibility is you Life?
Once you know the responsibility becomes yours. In fact, the
responsibility has always been yours. Our parents did the best that
they knew to do just as their parents but times have changed. Concepts
remain the same such as little girls having cooties until a curtain age
and then teenage palms’ sweat when going through puberty but the way we
communicate and socialize is not the same as mom and dad and definitely
not the same as grandma’s day.
We have to be very mindful of what our children are doing and were they are headed. If we don’t speak with them then assume that your assumption of their direction in life is wrong. You nor I are mind readers. Ask your children the hard questions and be ready for the hard truth.
The Cool Parents
There is a thin line between friend and parent. You can’t always be
cool mom and dad sometimes you’ve got to be just mom and just dad. Make
sure your parents have goals and be there accountability partners.
People are never to young to know where they are going.
Just remember that the more children know about taking authority over their own lives the better.
