FAQ - Apartments in Charleston, SC

  • What kind of pets do you allow?

    We do not have a weight limit at Abberly at West Ashley, however we do not allow certain aggressive breeds: German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinchers, Chows and Pitt Bulls (American Staffordshire Terrier). If you should have a pet that is a mixed breed that resembles one of the aggressive breeds listed, we would not be able to accept that pet as well. We do not allow exotic pets (ferrets, snakes, lizards, etc).

  • How many pets may I have?

    We allow a maximum of 2 pets per apartment.

  • Are there any deposits, special fees or monthly charges to have a pet?

    There are non refundable fees that go along with being a pet owner. The first pet requires a $400 non refundable fee. A $500 non refundable fee is required to register two pets. Pet fees are not applied to any expenses as a result of pet damage or cleaning charges.

  • Is a security deposit required?

    Unlike other communities, our office does not require a security deposit. Only a one time fee of $175 is required for the whole apartment.

  • If I get a job transfer, can I break the lease?

    We do offer three options to terminate your lease early. All three require at least a 60 days notice.

  • What utilities are included in my lease?

    There are no utilities included in your rent.

  • How long is the term of the lease? Are short term leases available?

    Most lease terms between 3 and 15 months can be accommodated. Please contact the office for specific availability.

  • If something needs to be repaired in my apartment, how do I report it?

    You have a couple of options on how to report a service request. You can either call a service request into the office or e-mail it in through our website at www.liveabberlywestashley.com.

  • When is rent payment due?

    Rent is due on the first of every month.

  • What is the day of the month that I am liable for a late charge?

    You do not accrue late fees until the 6th of the month.

  • Will you accept electronic payments from my bank?

    We do accept electronic payments however they must be in our office by the 5th of the month to avoid late fees.

  • Is there a place where I can pay my rent after hours?

    There is a drop box to the right of the front door to the clubhouse.

  • Do you have reserved parking?

    There is no reserved parking. Residents are issued a decal to ensure parking convenience.

  • My children live with me in the summer; do I need to notify your office when they arrive?

    It is necessary to provide the office with all people that will be residing in the apartment.

  • Can I install my satellite dish at my apartment?

    You can install a satellite dish within your patio. It cannot make a permanent change to the building and has to be within the patio to meet our guidelines. You will also need to have certain exposure to get a signal. If you do not, there is nothing we can do to aid you with this issue.

  • Do you have cable services?

    Cable, high speed internet, and landline phone services are provided by Comcast.

  • Will you accept my delivery packages for me?

    The office will accept packages in the office and notify you when they are received.

  • Do you have a list of Preferred Employers?

    We do have preferred employers, call to find out if your employer is on the list.
